Aunty Lori's Chocolate Cake

It disappeared before I could get a photo, sorry! Next time!

This chocolate cake is not for the faint of heart. This is the real deal, one you could serve to a chocolate snob and then withhold the recipe... ha ha ha ha, like we'd ever DO something like that! Ahem. Really, it's that good. Now, whether it's the cake or the icing, the icing or the cake, I couldn't exactly say for sure. What I do know is it's simple, rich, moist, reliable and beautiful. *sigh*

Many have asked. Here it is. I present for your tasting pleasure.........

Aunty Lori's Chocolate Cake

2 c. sugar
1 3/4 c. flour (increase to 2 c. if too runny)
3/4 c. cocoa
2 T. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
2 eggs
1 c. sour milk (add a t. of lemon juice to milk)
1 c. strong coffee (use instant if needed)
1/2 c. oil
1 t. vanilla

This is really simple. Put all your dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl, mix well, make a well. Add all liquids to dry ingredients, mix with a hand mixer till smooth. Pour into a greased 13" x 9" pan, bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Check with a toothpick for doneness!
See here for the 10 minute icing recipe!
