10 Minute Icing

There's no reason not to set time aside to make this icing! It's worth it! Try it with Aunty Lori's Chocolate Cake!

The method:

1 c. milk
5 T. flour
Mix and cook 'till thick. Cover with saran wrap on the surface to inhibit skin from forming. Cool. Be patient! It has to be cold! Refrigerator cold. Cold or you'll be sorry!

1 c. margarine
1 c. sugar
1 t. vanilla
Beat these three together, add your COOLED milk mixture, and beat with your mixer for 10 minutes. Ten. Whole. Minutes. It's not 8 minute icing for a reason, people. Set your timer for 10 and walk away. Ignore the loud buzzing of your mixer. Tell anyone who is irritated by the sound that it'll be worth it.
Spread over your cake or cupcakes. Will ice a 13x9 cake.
This icing can hold up to room temperature, but will do better refrigerated if it'll be for a length of time. Enjoy!
Variations: try adding epicure tiramisu dessert mix, or cocoa, or another flavoring of your choice!
